Re: The countryside

Oh! wish had commented before the second image was added. They have a completely different feel.

Love the dramatic feel of the original, like the layout of the shot (where you decided to take it from) and I have seen that effect and that, if my memory serves, is just how it looks in nature. Having said that may be a small amount of lift.

Think perhaps KK has gone a tad too far and changed the feel of the shot altogether, however although it seems a very different image I like that one too.

So although I prefer the first I like the second and you have managed to produce two for the price of one.

Re: The countryside

My edit certainly has a different feel to it. It shows that by changing the WB can have dramatic effects on the capture. I think its worth experimenting

Re: The countryside

Lovely image Claire but it appears slightly underexposed. I like the mood in the original so I PP to maintain it but brighten the image slightly.

Re: The countryside

I like the shot could imagine it in a book or magazine. For me maybe a slight crop of some of the bottom bracken. I think it looks a little underexposed. Having done quite a bit of research of the D80 vs 200 vs 300 I have found quite a bit of stuff detailing metering issues on the former two so could be it was just caught out. However in my experience of using D80's and 200's abroad generally in very bright light they were always accurate so I'm not sure if it is a real issue or not. Could do with uplifting a bit but maybe not so far as KK took it to preserve the mood of the shot.

PS. Not sure if Raw is true Raw on the D80 like on the D200. Better than jpg. for editing though.
