Good point - auto focus with the 1.4X teleconvertor on a f5.6

Will the aperture be wide enough to get enough light ?

Yes, I've used the 400mm f5.6 @ f8 (minus the tc) to capture birds ,with no problem, as long as it is bright

I was going to say - when it's bright

On my 40D (not got lenses as good as yours) the only one I can AF 'through' with my converter is the 50mm 1.8 - nice and wide.

That said - MF on a sloer or longer lens is fine if I can predict the shot.

Yes, I will be getting the new 5D, unless of course the rumour of the two body split is true, thenI will get the better of the two bodies.

My main priorities are to get a FF body, that has good noise handling at high ISO, mainly as one of my favorite things to photograph is live bands.

I quite like the idea of the lens microadjustment.

Apart from that I am not fussed on things like GPS, face recognition, Live View, Pop up Flash, Etc. Although the bigger screen is always nice.

I will still use my 30D as its a great body, and I will take it abroad. The 300D will get passed on to my other half with all my old lenses

FF is the biggest thing for me though, I really want to see my 17mm work at 17mm, should be really wide.

Re: Canon 5D replacement

Yeah, the moon photo has changed a couple of times now. It's a very slow change, and I have been checking to see if it follows our moon cycle, but I am afraid not, the next full (UK) moon is 15th Sept, so unless thats the day, I guess we still have to wait.
