I've just bought a Canon!!!!

Don't get excited not a digital SLR

I need a film SLR for my photography course, so I have bought a Canon EOS 100. Just the body, but going to get a couple of lenses from Ebay today, I am right it is the EF lenses ?????

Does this mean I can join the Canon group now, or does it have to be digital Canon users????

TBH the thought of film scares me a little

Re: I've just bought a Canon!!!!

You can use any EF lens on the Eos 100 but NOT EFs lens. The EFs lens are designed for use only with Canon Digital cameras.

And films not that frightening. Just have to put aside the digital ethic of rattling loads of images off in the hope of getting a good one. Film makes you consider the image more before you press the button.

This film photo courses are over in a flash, especially if you have a Canon. My god these jokes are getting even worse.

Re: I've just bought a Canon!!!!

MS contact me and I may have a couple of lenses for you!! I only had my camera for a short time and the blooming thing died on me, wouldn't wind up etc. They were hardly ever used. I know definitely where one of them is, should be able to find the other. Still ahve the boxes etc.

Re: I've just bought a Canon!!!!

Sorry to be a pain, but would some Sigma lenses fit? and any idea where I may be able to get alist of compatiable lenses????

Sorry for the questions

The course does look excellent, you start off with the history of photography, then black and white film , then colour film, developing etc, dark room skills onto digital, and then digital editing. You also have assignments, and they help you put together a portfolio. I think at the end of the year , they have an exhibition of the students work.

PD I will Pm you xxxx

Re: I've just bought a Canon!!!!

The thing you have to be careful with Sigma lens is the fact they may be compatible with one model of Eos camera but not with another.

For example I had a Canon Eos 50E with a Sigma Zoom. Worked perfectly. I bought a new Eos 3 body and the Sigma lens would not work with it. Basically, every time Canon released a new body they would modify the code on the tiny computer chip within the camera that was compatible with all Canon lens but third party lens would not be able to read this code and would not work correctly.

Sigma used to a rechipping service for their lens to bring them up to spec, but would only do it FoC once for each lens.

So if you go for Sigma, try it before you buy. Put it on your camera and check that everything (AF, Exp etc.) are all operational.
