Re: Phil @ Dunkeld

I think it sounds like a great idea!

Just out of curiousity...I was wondering which Tripod that is your using?....it looks a lot more sturdy than my Manfrotto.

It is very sturdy. It's a Slik PRO 700 DX.

Swiped from an old thread of mine....

Having finally decided against another Benbo / Uniloc type (although I love them) for 'practical reasones' - I started looking for new manfrotto 190XPROB legs but when I set them up (being quite tall) I found that I'd have to use the center column up a lot.

So I then looked at manfrotto 055XPROB legs at they were taller and heavier but (costing more than the 190) it would mean that the head I had my eye on would put me over budget.

Then I stumbled accross the SLIK 700DX

Same weight, height and just as sturdy as the 055XPROB legs - I was so impressed I trawled the net and found that at the moment a lot of online places are throwing in the 700DX 3 way head for free plus if i want to add the Manfarotto head I fancied at a later date it'll fit OK.

Re: Phil @ Dunkeld

Should have added.....It goes a lot higher than it is in that pic - looks like I've only got one leg fully extended as I was on a slope. Think it goes 190cm so If your 6 foot like me it saves a bad back.

Another thing that is good is that silver centre colum is in two bits. If the legs are splayed really wide (for a really low down shot) it would obviously hit the floor. It's in two sections so you can unscrew and remove about 90% of it leaving you with a wee stubby bit that doesn't ground.

Great for flowers etc.
