Some pics folks take are OK without any editing, but i'm sure most pics do need a bit contrast/brightness or cropping.

I prefer to try & take the best pic i can & personally like a pic that hasn't had much done to it. I like to look at a photo i took & it to look like what i saw when i took it.

But then sometimes a little tweeking here & there does wonders for some photos, it all depends on what the photo is i suppose . I have just had a tweek with a pic i took of my friends nephew & it is much better now then the orginal, so for things like that it is good, but for others i like to leave them alone .

i do think though that ps is good & i would like it but i will still prefer the more natural photo.

I prefer to produce photo's that don't need any editing other than re-sizing (for internet use)

Sometimes though, I've taken a bit of a dodgy pic, but I know it would look great after editing. Sometimes it works, other times it looks worse

I am very new to digital photography as I was a film die-hard but it's onwards and upwards and I am really hungry to learn I would love to play around with images I have 2 problems time and money at the moment we are spending an awful lot on the house and the daughter so we have to watch our p''s and Q's so these threads are lovely to read and I hope I can achieve eventually 1/2 as good a print as lot's of you are achieving (I wish)...Also very new to computers so lunging around in the dark lots hehe...

I much prefer photos to be as natural as possible....or at least look natural.

Some 'improvements' I have seen, appear too have the opposite effect, and can actually spoil the subject matter, rather than enhance it.
This is of course only my personal opinion, and just cos it doesnt appeal to me doesnt mean there is anything worng with it

I like both but to a degree you use post editing techniques with film too the old burning and dodging in the red light room(lol) I love that process but times move on, I always try to get exposure etc right on everything and framing etc but sometimes playing around in photoshop (when I get time) is so much fun

I dont care for PP, I dont use photoshop much (although I do like some of the effects I have seen on here) I just like photos how they come. The mst I usually do is a bit of cropping and sharpening sometimes.

I agree with you all, personal choice.

Post proccessing has went on since pics were take over a hundred years ago, in the darkroom you always adjusted contrast etc, what I don't like is the over-manipulating of pics to give "artistic" effects.
I do play around with PS, but only as an experimental exercise to see how the pic would look, sometimes you get the odd eysore in a landscape, with PS you can edit it out and finish up with a really nice pic.

I'm 50/50.

I only use PS to double check and resize if required. Sometimes levels - curves.

I like to think my photos can come out "au natural" but i'll edit them if needs be.

I like to play with photos too to see what can be created.

I think there's a time and a place for both options. I like natural untouched photographs, but the odd photoshop effect is quite interesting... I also agree that sometimes it gets overdone to a point where I think it does spoil a picture...

You can always add an effect - it's harder to take it away once everything is saved... Unless you're looking for a specific effect - don't do too much!!
