Re: Nikon D200 or Canon 40D

I can't find that page - whas the link?

If he indeed does own more Nikons then I'd say it's very unbiased of him for recommending more Canons

Re: Nikon D200 or Canon 40D

Phil I know Dawn was looking for a Canon 75-300mm lens depending on version and selling the other Canon lens as well as your existing camera would go a long way to getting a D300 plus lens without even getting rid of your existing Nikon Lens . I thought your Nikon telephoto was a 70-300mm and suitable for digital cameras

I don't get anything from Nikon. They don't even give me the time of day! No loaners (except for the left handed F100 I got before this site went on-air), no special help, no advance information, no hats or even pens. Nothing. Nada. Squat. They don't even send me press releases on time. I always hear about new things from you folks first!
There's no doubt he likes Nikon - but for all the right reasons. He also owns Canon gear too, and is quick to point out their strong points as well

Nikon D3

For professional news and sports, every man wants the Nikon D3 ($5,000). The Nikon D3 is also great for landscapes, but bigger, heavier and more than twice as expensive as the flimsier Canon 5D. The Nikon D3 is heavily back-ordered, but has no equal.

All Nikon lenses work on the D3. For the man who wants a D3, he'll want the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR I mentioned above, as well as the $1,700 24-70mm normal lens and the $1,800 14-24mm wide lens. Every less expensive Nikon lens works great on the D3, too.

Canon 1Ds Mk III

The craziest (good) camera for portraits and landscapes is Canon's $8,000 1Ds Mk III. It's the world's best. Go for it. Get the same lenses as I suggested for the Canon 5D, or the sorts of folks who get the 1Ds Mk III tend to want the far heavier 70-200mm f/2.8 IS over the much lighter (but just as good) Canon 70-200mm f/4 L I prefer.

Re: Nikon D200 or Canon 40D

Yeah well that maybe so, but I have read on other forums he is Nikon biased and thats how I find him. For any unbiased camera review I look at:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/ Decent site I find.
Kit 1
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Canon 100-400mm L IS USM.
Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 macro
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG MACRO HSM II.
Giottos Pro Monopod. MML 3270B.
Canon BG-E7 grip.

Re: Nikon D200 or Canon 40D

Was in Perth today. We've 3 camera shops and none of them have or are likely to get a D200 in. The 'Nikon' shop tried it on with the D300 and offered to sell my D50 for me.

Jessops said they couild get a D200 in from Northern Ireland.

Quite taken with the 40D though.

Re: Nikon D200 or Canon 40D

The reason being I think is because it is no longer being manufactured, or thats the rumour I have heard. Thats the D200 ,but you should still be able to get it via the web.
