Hama Star 42 or Hama Star 75 Tripod?

Was in tesco earlier and saw two Hama tripods - just wondered if there's much in them?

I thought it was the Hama Star 42 that looked a lot smaller (so a lot easier to carry around I expect) but the info on their site shows it to be the taller one :-/ !

Re: Hama Star 42 or Hama Star 75 Tripod?

I have the first one.
It is great for my camera, but I believe that your camera will be heavier.

It is not that sturdy but it does for me you just have to be gentle with it.

Now I shall tell you a funny story.

I had my tri pod for 12 months before i realised it had quick release legs.
I thought it was a table top one lol

Re: Hama Star 42 or Hama Star 75 Tripod?

What do you plan on using it for Azz? If your planning on long exposures you have to make sure that the tripod has a bit of weight to it so the wind can't ruin the shot. Some of the lighter tripods wobble with the lightest breeze or touch and ruin your perfectly composed shot.

Thanks Ste - I hadn't though about that tbh. I think I will get the bigger heavier one then - it looked pretty decent quality too. Is it worth spending more? Or are they more or less the same?

Re: Hama Star 42 or Hama Star 75 Tripod?

To be honest you could do with stickin your camera on top and see how stable it feels, not sure tesco would go for that though!!

Bear in mind that the tripod may have to support your camera with your biggest lens on it, so the thing has to be sturdy enough to stop falling over and smashing your baby on the floor!! Somethings are worth paying a little extra for, brakes in cars and tripods for camera's

Re: Hama Star 42 or Hama Star 75 Tripod?

lol, well when you put it like that

Although I thought Hama were meant to be an ok brand? :-/

I'll ask them to open the boxes next time I'm there and have a good look, must admit I would prefer a lightweight one as it would be less of a chore to carry around
