Re: getting another camera

The D200 is heavy on batteries,I sold mine purely for that reason. You are better off with the D300 which is leaps and bounds better in every respect, I wouldn't part with my D300 even though I have the D800, in my opinion its the best non FF camera Nikon ever produced.

Battery life is just one example

D200 v D 300
340 shots v 1000 shot

for around £330 go for the D300 every time

Re: getting another camera

Wow the D300's have dropped in price quite a bit - I loved mine.

If you can, I'd try and stretch to a D300 too YS.

Re: getting another camera

came out in 2001 so it could be anything up to 13 years old and I wouldn't even consider it. The technology is in the dinosaur age although good when first came out.

http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/use...s/nikon-d300-2

They have 7/8 Nikon D300 and also show the shutter count which you should ALWAYS ask/check anyway.

Think of it like buying a car, many look all gleam and shine on the outside but the engine may well be knackered. Same with cameras, these people ( MPB ) would be my first port of call, I understand they have a very good reputation not that I have had dealings with them

Re: getting another camera

You won't regret it, I love mine and would not part with it for anything. Let us know how you get on with it.
Don't forget it comes with a 6 month warranty from mbp as well.

Re: getting another camera

Sandisk, never had any problems with them. I would go for something like

Liink (you might find it cheaper elsewhere but be aware of cheap copies)

http://www.fotosense.co.uk/sandisk-3...e5&fo_s=gplauk

Why this one? well apart from having a decent amount of memory(32gig) the read/write speed is fast enough not to slow down burst shooting, 60mb/s is the slowest I would recommend.

Genuine ones on the opposite edge to the pins have a serial number and mine say made in China as well, is one way to check

THAT CARD IN MY D300 GIVES YOU shots as a rough guide

Raw =1000
Tiff=1300
fine=4600
Norm =9000
basic=17700
Raw+Fine =871
Raw+ Norm 959
Raw=Basic=1000
