Editing software, I'm at a complete loss!
I downloaded Gimp2 but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing! It doesn't seem to download a help manual with it and I can't always be online.
Does anyone else use this? Any suggestions?
How did everyone else get started with photoshop, gimp etc etc? I need to find out the best way to learn...

One of the biggest and best buys is the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (free trial download if you look on the net) and the tutorial

For those new to editing I can't recommend these enough. Consider a copy new Adobe CS6 photo starts at around £600+, those I put in the links are a real bargain and does a lot of what the full CS6 does.

I've forgotten how I used to use Gimp - but I remember I always found it quite a difficult program.

Youtube is always a great recourse for these types of thing, I would start with a youtube search for "gimp how.." and you'll see lots of tutorials.

i googled photoshop tutorials and watched some others on youtube. i also use google reader to stay on top of rss feeds for some of the better photography and editing blogs.

Must admit i found Gimp a hard too use, i have access to CS4 which i use lightly and may by Elements 9 as ive heard the odd numbers are best and the even numbers are tweaks.

I agree about googling tutorials, especially on youtube - it's always easier watching a video imo
