blurred background

ok. hers the prob.

i know how to take a pic with a blurred background [aperture] but it never works.

is it my camera?

any tips greatly received.

Have you tried disengaging auto focus ?

i put my dial on a and set the aperture

I'm not familiar with your cameras, but usually there's a button on the side of the lens marked AF/MF , (auto or manual focus).

Check the focus mode -you might not be focussing on the foreground subject ?

It depends how far away the background is from the object you are taking a picture of also it depends how far you are away from the object itself too... the closer you are to the object the more difference the aperture will make.

What f setting is your camera saying or setting you have it on? also how close to the object are you?

lowest f setting is 3.2

im about 7 feet away from a mug on the table in the kitchen

Are you using f3.2 when attempting to shoot the mug? IMO 7 ft is rather far away for such an object, what is the distance between the mug and the background? Also what is the minimum working distance of your camera (which might be why you are shooting that far away).

What focal length are you using?

Try getting closer to the object and also try bringing the object a little further away from the background

You have roughly a 6" range on your DoF with f3.2. So anything within that range will be sharp
