Just announced and all I see are griping comments about it. Initial reports offer very little by way of commendation.

I think a lot of folk were waiting to give the V1 and J1 a slating.

Not read much but the general view of what I have read is that Nikon are late joining the mirrorless market and more serious photographers with IQ in mind don't seem to want the tiny sensor they've gone for which makes it an expensive and not particularly compact alternative to a cheaper compact.

Look good to me though.

I do wonder the wisdom of such a small sensor (1") at this stage of the megapixel game. As ever increasing pixel density increases over time, have they handicapped them selves? With competitors having bigger sensors therefore a lower noise level at higher iso and better image quality due to less pixel density working better with consumer level lenses.

But it does look very well made and nice, simple layout.

....... follow up. dpreview have now posted sample images. Judge the IQ for yourself, looks pretty good to me.

Looks alright - but I wouldn't have said they look much better than a decent compact at a tenth of the price to be honest. Mind you - would help to look at larger images.
