The reason for joining and posting photographs on this forum was to share photos with people who I thought appreciate the art of photography as much as I do.

To share photos with like-minded people who would give comments without criticism. If someone don’t like a picture, then why comment at all.

How naive I am, now I know better and having the ‘edit’/’critic’ button not ticked doesn’t help – seems pointless.

Re: Lone tree in Renfrewshire

Maria, please don't leave I for one enjoy looking at your pictures that you post. It would be a great shame if you stopped posting your pictures up, after all we all feed from each other when it comes to ideas or a different take/perspective on something. You are unique just as others are and if you leave we will have lost what you have to offer.

Re: Lone tree in Renfrewshire

This sort of stemmed from my mistake. I get so used to people having C&C that early this morning I was a bit bleary eyed and didn't even notice that the C&C button wasn't checked. So I apologise for putting up any C&C and the consequent arguments that followed. I'd hope that the various people who have participated can take five minutes out and forget it and carry on with the forum. Yop has been picking up the last week or two and it would be a shame to have a fall out and see it dry up again. Arty people do tend to be a bit opinionated and protective of our opinions and positions so lets all respect where we are at and, if we can, move on.

However, I do question what we are posting our pictures for. If it is merely a showcase and we don't expect C&C, then short of only the admirers simply saying 'fantastic' then people can say little else. If the opinions of folks on this website don't count, as we are not 'real' people, then I do really have to ask then why present images to us. Our opinions either in favour or on the contary have no value.
