Re: Anybody ever used one of these?

Don't expect amazing quality - but ok for a bit of fun and a few snapshots....

The quality of the lens is poor, and it just screws on the front of an existing lens using the filter thread...

At £30 you can't expect much - but you may get some fun results with the wider lens... If you accept it's limitations - you may get a few pics you like - but don't expect them to be competition winners

Save another 6 months and buy a proper wide wide lens that fits the camera directly!

Re: Anybody ever used one of these?

Anything that gets screwed onto the lens will ultimatley produce some quality loss/issues - how much depends on the quality of what your screwing on.

As im aware of, most enthusisasts steer clear from them as they are pretty useless and are actually mostly used for camcorders and Film SLRs, not DLSRs. You will get high vignetting, CA, and softer images. Its likley that your camera will take longer to focus as well.

If you are really keen on having one, go to a retail outlet where you can attach it to your own lens and a play in various situations. Save the images and bring them up on your home PC to have a good look at the resulting image. If your happy with whats on the screen and can live with what is being produced, by all means go out and buy one

Dont be tempted to buy without trying. The "resulting" samples can easily be ran through Photoshop (a bit like the ones on that ebay page) only trust what you have tried and tested yourself
