Fixed aperture lens

I was in Glasgow last week (Giggs camera shop) and the guy showed me an f2.8 fixed aperture 18 - 55 lens, he wanted £375 for it, have any of you seen this one ?, I think it was a Sigma.

PS: they have a site on the internet and do all sorts of new and seconhand equipment.

I wasnt even aware Sigma did an 18-55mm lens? are you sureit wasnt 50mm??

You were right K, it's a 18 - 50 macro and it's dropped in price, it's £329.

He must've said "better bring the price down" when I did'nt take it.

PS: The lens size was enormous, I recon it'd be a big filter you'd need for it.

Fixed aperture zoom lenses are very good, but they are also more expensive

iv never actually used them myself, What are the benefits of using one?? - may take my D50 body into Jessops and have a play around.

If you do have a look at one K, let us know what you think of it.

It's the same wide anlge as the Canon lens, but I fancy the wider aperture.
