My boys used o call it 'the fairy castle' when they were little. It does have a fairytale quality to it from afar, and looks very imposing in your pics.

I'm not sure of the history tbh! But yeah, you can certainly tell that Disney looked at europe for inspiration!

It's actually probably the most fairy-tale-esq castle I have ever seen come to think of it! Did you live down this way then Thandi?

Yes that's the one... The red castle (now pink)...

This is one of the few castles that actually never was a true castle... It was designed and built to suit someones personal fancy... It never did a bit of defending in its life!!
