Redwing, Juve. Herring Gull and Spoonbills

Just a few that were just to share really - not great shots, but I was happy enough to get them, best I've gotten yet of Redwing and Spoonbill

1. - would have preferred more headroom.

2. - Bigma at full stretch, + poor light, + heavy crop!

3. - Just a bit too far away - but I like the overall feel of the photo

That looks a lovely lens Suzi - the Bigma has serious limitations... it's a good lens, but it does have its problems. It's a real pain in poor light - though it performs much better on the D300s than on the D80. The main problem is softness. I find it nearly impossible to get true pinsharp images.

Nice shots, Laura. What are those coloured bands around the spoonbills legs?

Not sure Grant! I was speaking to some of the more experienced Birdwatch Ireland members - and the general thought is that the one with rings was ringed in Holland - what the rings mean I'm not sure - perhaps just that it's a Dutch ringing?
