A couple of LFL landscapes from me :)

I know I'm no great shakes at landscape, but I do enjoy having a go - and this area is so pretty, sometimes I do feel the need to grab what I see in the best way I can soooo... here are some long focal length landscapes. This is of Galley Head and surrounding area - a place I love. We walked my mum's pup there (photos soon to be posted in the right area on this forum! ) and I got these at the time

Re: A couple of LFL landscapes from me :)

First is by far the best and strongest Laura and I feel a strong crop would yield a pleasing result.

2 and 3 suffer from a lack of interest/contrast in the sky and the building being indistinct on the horizon..nothing for the eye to grab onto iyswim.

2 appears to have been destaurated ,,an effect I really like in beach shots for a nostalgic feel..but the sky needs to be strong to carry this off .

You should try shooting in landscape rather than portrait and getting a really strong focal point...you will be amazed at the difference.

Portrait shots of Landscapes are tricky and need something to lead the eye through and down.

Look forward to seeing more of your lovely coastline though...I am a Donegal girl.

Re: A couple of LFL landscapes from me :)

Thank you for your input. I have always shot in landscape format really - and usually go wide - but just lately been trying out the long focal length with sort of... 'stages' of areas - such as beach then sea, then land, then sky. Not all of them work of course, but it's something I'm dabbling with as they interest me a lot

I appreciate that the skies are lacking in any depth and interest - because the last few weeks, that's how they've been here - not a cloud anywhere - and very bleached out looking - no real colour!

How I understand that!

Nothing better for a walk than a clear sky and nothjing better for a pic than a turbulent one..we get all or nothings here too and the first thing I do of a morning is check the sky.

Some lovely blue seas your camera is giving,,very ..Azure ..but better cos they are Irish.

It ain't the camera! The seas here are incredibly blue all the time! (well, in nice weather anyway!)
