A few birds

A couple of bird pictures I took last week.

I guess this duck doesnt want the attention of the Mallard drake

This young Heron was caught hiding on the reedbed fringes as it ventured out to catch frogs and eels.

A Guilliemot in adult winter plumage. I was pleased to snap this as they are maritime birds or cliff nesting - consequently one doesnt often get the opportunity to see them this close up. I managed to quickly snap this one as it popped up in front of me off the end of a breakwater.

Re: A few birds

JR sorry but I do have to say, if you don't mind, over editing of the first picture has taken away the true electic green of the duck ,as seen in my photo.

Re: A few birds

Bazza - of course I welcome constructive criticism, however, in this instance there was no over-editng in the duck picture. The difference, as you see it, is your picture is of a drake in summer plumage; nice bright and irridescant with the sun on it.

Mine is a wild drake in eclipse/winter plumage, taken in cloudy conditions.

Crop & frame is as much as I have done.

Re: A few birds

Very nice Jack, I only have one heron pic, so I am jealous of yours as it is brilliant, mine is a smudge

Your Mallard pic is lovely, and poor old Mr Mallard is being rejected Great colours.
