My Vacation - Volume 1

In the last week of July 2011 I went on a huge vacation to 5 nationals parks in the USA. They included Zion, Bryce, Arches, Monument Valley & The Grand Canyon. I travelled with 35 other tourists aboard a sleeper tour bus over a 10 day adventure. We rode together, camped together, slept together on the bus and hiked through the most amazing natural wonders in the USA. I still correspond with them as there were 8 nationalities aboard with guests ranging from 19-72 years of age. Here are just a few of the memorable photos from that trip.

San Francisco, California - The Departure Point

The Golden Gate Bridge

The San Francisco Bay Area Bridge in early morning

The Tourist Boats docked before the day began

The Ferry Building with clock tower along the Embarcadero business strip that was destroyed during the earthquake of 1989.

The Green Tortoise Hostel where we met up with the Green Tortoise Tour Bus

I was on a local tour bus that offered to take our picture with our own camera. I hate to show you my mug shot but at least it shows I was actually at the Golden Gate Bridge.

That's why this was my "Bucket List" once in a lifetime vacation. I was laid off from my job at an age that allowed me to retire. The separation monies they gave me was just enough to pull off this trip. My last day of work was July 26, 2010. Exactly one year later I was on that tour bus, returning just in time to bein my official retirement at 62 by drawing Social Security. I've gone from a gross income last year of $69,000 to an income under $20,000 next year. I know what a lifestyle adjustment that causes. Hang in there. I never would have thought I'd ever go on such a glorious trip.
