Straight from the box

Ripped the box open, grabbed the new lens, put it on my camera and took my first shot. Do not have any children or beautifully young people so I took one of Alan my oh. Now I will have to take loads to get used to the feel and ability of my new toy, love new lens it always seems to open new doors for me and I think this one may lead me into more portrait work something I have never done before, except for dogs, of course.

Any help or suggestions will be welcome, thanks.

Re: Straight from the box

Mr Snapper is very photogenic - does he do hired sittings?

Nice crisp photo with good skin tones.

Re: Straight from the box

I agree with JR, Mr Snapper is a very good photography subject

I like your new lens Snapper, think I may well have to get one too!

With regards to the photo I would get rid of that green thing (the sofa?) and try a few shots of different angles until you find the one that works best for your subject

Green thing! It was actually his coat on the back of his office chair, he was busy clearing out his shed and throwing the rubbish (most of the content IMO) in a skip we have hired for the purpose of having a Autumn clean out. So not really in posing mode but I could not wait. have another green thing.

Agree Alan is a good model, old habits dye hard and he never did hide his talents.

Re: Straight from the box

Well, I think Alan has a great face, I'd love to take his picture
He also reminds me of an actor, but I can't think who it is

Really glad you are loving your new lens too

Re: Straight from the box

MS just spoken to Alan (I do on occasion) and he said he reminds people of Trevor Howard, he also resembles Lonnie Donagan (sp) but that would be before your time, skiffle group.

Re: Straight from the box

For Azz

Valid point, will try to seat my subjects on a stool in future and keep the background plain. Must say with the tighter DOF it was easier to remove the offending green as the edges were defused anyway.

Re: Straight from the box

Okay, I can see Trevor Howard, but it wasn't him I was thinking of, it was Patrick Stewart, I think it's the eyes........

What do you think?
