Re: Invasion!!

Nice one, I like the tank a lot. I think I would soften the turret of the tank a little, leave the gun aperture sharp, then the turret would have the same dof as the grass next to it.

Good One

Re: Invasion!!

Thanks for the comments, WW the dof is right for me. It runs from from to back in both parts of the composite but I'll give your idea a try to see how it looks

Out of interest, here is how I did it!

Here are the 2 original shots:

1: I selected the tank using the quick selection tool, copied the selection and pasted it onto a new layer

2: Pasted another copy of the selected tank and filled the selection with black and Gaussian blur'd to about 40 pixels to make a shadow for the tank.

3: Moved the shadow layer down and right to create the shadow for the tank, then linked the 2 layers.

4: Dragged the beach pic onto the tank pic to make it a layer, put it as the bottom layer.

5: I desaturated all the layers and re sized the tank and positioned it till I liked it!

6: I created a colour fill layer, chose a light brown colour and moved it to the top of the stack. I then changed the blend mode to soft light.

7: I created 2 blank layers, and using a scatter tipped brush created what was to be the dust by spotting with the brush. On 1 for the dust trail behind and on the other around the tracks.

8: I then Gaussian blur'd the dust layers, to make it look like dust. Adjusting the opacity till it looked right.

9: Placed the dust trail under the tank layer, and the track dust on top of the tank layer.

Job done!

Re: Invasion!!

I have already said I prefer pictures to be as taken without much editing. However in this case I have to admit the alteration, giving the effect of the tank comming right for you, is excellent. Strangely enough it just goes to prove that in some instances one can have ones thoughts completely reversed and for me to say that is something.

Well done
