Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Ah ok I see, I think!!

am going to hunt for manual though I have discovered an option to plus or minus exposure!! it defaultsto 0 but goes from -2 to +2 And a window opens on my lcd screen that shows a moving graph type image!! (very technical huh!!) that seems to change depending on light. Looks a bit like the traces you see on life support machines.

I can't believe the difference after you changed my image thanks v much

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Hi Benzmum - good shots there - well done - is your camera the Panasonic listed in your profile?

If so the instruction manual can be found here: Panasonic manual (there is a PDF download link labelled 'User guide' at the top of this page)

Pages 42 and 43 talk about exposure settings. Have a quick look - and then ask away and I'll try and answer anything that you're not sure about.

Your camera can't get RAW pictures - but that's fine - you can get 5mp pictures if you set your camera to 'Fine' for picture quality...

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Thanks for that.....I dug out manual and have had a look through it last night (guess I am meant to do that before using it!!!)Have had the camera about a year but only started to use it recently and am enjoying taking photos so would love to learn more.

Is it an ok basic camera?

Anyway had a look at your reply to the hedgehog photos too, very informative thank you. I had no idea there was all the technical stuff on a standard camera. My camera just now is generally set to aspect ratio 3:2 pict size 4.5M fine quality AF mode is set to a square with a large black square in the middle and a letter H to the right of the box, slow shutter is set to 1/8- in my scenery setting which is what I used to take the photos of the ducks, in fact everything except the food was taken in scenery mode

I have also discovered there is an anti shake setting so that might have taken away some of the blur.

My ISO seems to be default to auto, but goes 80, 100, 200 and 400 and I discovered yesterday that I can change exposure in certain modes (normal picture, simple mode, macro, video, and whatever I have set in options 1 and 2) and it goes from -2EV to +2EV in 1/3 EV intervals.

Have also discovered that for night shots (I will post my attempts in another thread) I did it all wrong but again will post in another thread.

So having said all the above, does anyone have any advice on the ducks photo that would have enhanced it? (should I have used portrait as the picture was supposed to be of the ducks and not really the scenery behind?) and...oh dear i have loads of questions!! Will wait before asking more

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Isn't it great finding out all these things Benzmum, before this site started, I just put my camera in auto and clicked away, then I found out that the other icons and things were there for a reason, and did different things, that I may one day be able to conquer or at least have fun trying
