Re: trip into the mountains

I love the movement of the water in the first shot.It is really nice.

The second one I think it could be that big rock on the leftit stops me looking further back, does that mak esense.
I am sorry I am hopeless at this C&C lark

Like the third one too, but my fave is the first.

Re: trip into the mountains

I'm not keen on the first image, the effect on the water is to harsh with blowin highlights. No comment on #3. I prefer #2, which is nicely exposed and I like the colourful leaves on the rocks. I don't know what aperture you used, or which part you focused on but the bottom left of this image looks oof. I would maybe have focused on the middle part of the rocks to the left and used an aperture of f16.

Re: trip into the mountains

No CC on the technique you have used, can only tell you how the images feel to me. The first does not please me, I find the tree stumps uninteresting and the water looks wrong I feel one should be able to see the sparkling look of a mountain stream and think perhaps to crop the top to the water would help.

Like the leaves in the second shot but think it may have been more interesting in portrait so there was more depth to the image. The last I like, the water looks more natural and I love the way the trees are leaning in.

Sorry not a single tech comment but I am sure that technically they are fine but then you see I would not know.

Re: trip into the mountains

Thanks all for the feedback - DJ I'm with you on the blown out highlights. The middle picture was taken at f4.5 and 1/5 Sec. TBh I was struggling for light at that stage so had to crank it up some.

Re: trip into the mountains

JR, I love the first image, I actually like the fact that its not perfect technically, it works, out of the 3 thats it my favourite - has a slightly surrealist feel to it.

Image 2 I'm not keen on if I'm honest JR - its too busy, with not enough going on, if that makes sense - the rocks don't frame the picture they seem to stop the eye from moving backwards.

Image 3 again I feel is missing something that image 1 had, I think this is a composition issue, I also feel that the colours are slightly lifeless in this photo. I really like image 1 though, hope you don't mind me voicing my opinions - obviously thats all they are....
