Re: A few birds from this week :)

I did wonder when i saw th RF Bluetail was at Cork if you would get to see it, so congratulations they are stunners, and to et a Night Heron as well you must be pleased.

Really good set of Grey Heron images, at a Heronry perhaps ?

Re: A few birds from this week :)

Thanks Brian! Yes, I was down there as soon as I heard Was a great bird to watch, beautiful! The Night Heron was a bit of a lucky one to be honest because we didn't get out early enough for it. Would like to see it awake properly! All we saw was an immobile black and white blob. Ah well, tomorrow we will try again! Fingers crossed he's still about!

The herons aren't at a heronry no just 2 of them, moving around the branches of one tree by the river it's a good spot for seeing them like that

Re: A few birds from this week :)

Certainly better than my view of a Night heron, almost dark and disappearing into a reedbed surrounded by fellow birders. Hope you get another chance, not much happening my way at the moment, migration is passing us by.

What a lovely selection Laura. I'm liking the herons and you must be so chuffed with the Bluetail.

Thanks all - I'm like the cat that got the cream this morning - went back for the Night Heron and saw him fishing (yes, it was at sunrise! O_O) - and got some nicer shots <3

Re: A few birds from this week :)

Sort of makes me a twitcher, but not *really* I don't keep a proper list - certainly nothing more than a list of what I've seen worldwide throughout my life, and that's pretty much in my head anyway! I also don't drop everything to go across the country to see something. In the case of the RFB it was about 2 miles from my mum's house which is only about 6 miles from where we are, so I thought I'd head out for a looksee. If it had been much further away I wouldn't have.

I just like seeing new things, and pretty things, and things with great character! The Night Heron is just spectacular. Going to try again tomorrow to see if it's still there, as I could watch it for *hours*
