Slightly different PP

I never seem to have any time to do anything at the moment, but I did manage to try a slightly different PP on one of the Silverstone shots from a few weeks back.

Layered with some high-pass filter, plus a little de-sat too:

Ken, I really like that. Could you pleaaaaase share the process as I have been wondering how to desaturate properly.

Cracking shot Ken and desaturation has worked well.

Thanks Gav, I shoot in RAW and then normally do a quick PP in Adobe Lightroom 4, just the levels and sharpen. But with this one I went a bit further and selected the grass in the background and desaturated, plus darkened slightly, then I imported into PS and made a second layer and applied some high-pass filter to the tarmac in front of the car to exaggerate the granularity.
