dof is a personal choice but I wondered about having the whole flower in focus and just the background thrown out ?

I will try and give it a go tomorrow Phil, they are small, and part of the problem is, they are so light they move even in the gentlest of breezes, so I have yet to get one completely sharp all over.

There shouldn't be any blooms left really, but there are a few just hanging in there, it smells wonderful in the summer

Funny you say that (about last remaing flowers) as I was stood having a smoke on the patio yesterday evening. I was looking in dispair at the pots, tubs & borders that have died down and thinking about how much it all needed clearing out. Dotted amongst the tangle of decay was the odd 'blip' of colour, those last few late blooms just hanging in there despite the frost.
