Re: Polo again

These shots are very nicely framed Polo....but....
Picture no.3 is the only one I would enter....because it's the only one in focus! Images 1 & 2 are far too soft.

You really need to ( quite literally ) focus more on the eyes, and I'm afraid the eyes in all of these shots are pretty dull and life-less. If the competition is looking for personality, then, especially in a head shot, the eyes should sparkle, and show a real zest for life...unless of course the subject's personality is indeed dull and lifeless, which I very much doubt describes Polo, as I've seen him in other shots you've taken.

Compare the eyes in these head shots I've taken, to your shots of Polo, and hopefully you'll see what I mean.

It's all in the eyes!

Re: Polo again

MD has taken the words from my mouth, like the composition of 2 best but it is not sharp enough. Bet it is not that easy to photograph a white dog and keep detail so a good effort but a bit more attention to the crispness, use a tripod if you can and take your time to make sure it is crisp or take loads and loads and go looking for the sharp one, the second being my method with dogs as I don't have the skill to get it right every time

Re: Polo again

Nice shots, and I agree with MD - focus on the eyes to get the dogs personality across
