Loved the eye contact in the first but think I prefer something with the composition in this one but can't decide why.

I agree with Snapper, I really liked the first one but there's something about this one but I can't quite pinpoint it.

If this does not sound too arty or even farty I think it may be the circular effect the squirrell's body and tail make so everything is always moving into the picture, total capture with nothing leaving. In the first one simple because of the eye contact one expects the subject to leap out of shot.
