Re: Venetian Bridges

I think the first shot is very good appart from the blowin out sky which I find very distracting, but probablly impossible to avoid unless using a grad ND filter or combining multi exposures to create an HDR image. The second image is excellent, with the reflection, rocks and colours

Re: Venetian Bridges

Thanks all - BC - the metering was centre-weighted.

I am pleased with the C&C here - following the earlier C&C thread - I deliberately posted two images, both worthy of merit, however, with some obvious flaws in the first image. I was pleased that the tree was noted as being too dark - I did take the pictures in RAW (I do exclusively) - and Yes, I also made a copy with the tree lightened - as bob/phil recognised. ad for the sky - I was kicking myself as I had a circular polariser on, but even with it fully rotated the harsh Cyprus sunshine is unrelenting, and is synonymous with one of the difficulties of taking photos in bright light.

Snapper- I'll post another image, as that branch actually did mimic the curve of the bridge - as distracting as it is.

Thanks for the feedback on the 2nd image. I did take a great deal more care in composition, framing, exposure, etc.. the inclusion of the rocks was a: to lead the eye to the bridge, and also, b) to break up the 'empty' space and give a sense of distance from the foreground to the background.

thanks again for your comments

Re: Venetian Bridges

Thank you JR, think my mind is a bit odd, as I looked at the shot the only thing I could think of was wondering if that tree continues to follow the lines of the bridge like a frame.
