Re: HDR's... my first attempts

Sammy, take the tone mapped images over into photoshop - Change the mode to Lab and drop your contrast and up the saturation and adjust the curves slightly- should help to pick the up some more

Over all not bad attempts - the detailing has come out well in the shadows

Re: HDR's... my first attempts

The best thing to practice on Sam would be things like trees and wall as the have a higher dynamic range - also if you want to practice some more without going out - take the ones you have of Lupo on Flkr and see what detailing you can bring out in his fur.

If you dont mind i did a quick one of Lupo to show you what you should aim for. Can i post it?
Open one up in PS and drop the curves to bring the exposure down - save it as "1", Then "ctrl - alt-z" so you bring it back to normal exposure and save as "2" then bring up the curves and save as "3" - then go through the tone mapping process.. Its not true HDR but the tecnique is fairly similar.

Re: HDR's... my first attempts

Cheers Sammy......

See the detailing in the coat - thats what your trying to bring out. To do this you need to up the curves, drop the contrast and do some dodging. I left the background as it was to overwhelming tone mapped.

Re: HDR's... my first attempts

Lovely pictures Sammy! The one of the barge is probably my favourite. I do like the way the HDR is subtle enough not to make the picture look unrealistic but still bring out some of the detail
