Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

A nice day on the Suffolk coast.

The Bittern photos weren't the easiest due to the sun nearly in my eyes and the reflection off the water. Hoping to get a circular polarising filter, reckon that would have helped today.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

Interesting set Richard.

I like how you've framed the platforms in 2. What are they ?

Well done with the Bittern in the glare, they're hard enough to spot at the best of times.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

I think the platforms are something to do with the Sizewell nuclear power stations Phil. Do you think a cicular polarising filter would have helped with the Bittern shots? Seen from the aptly named Bittern Hide at Minsmere. I think I've been 4 times and seen Bittern 3.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

Google research :-

These two platforms sit offshore from the two nuclear power stations in Sizewell, Suffolk. Sizewell A is decommissioned but Sizewell B is active, and a Sizewell C is planned. The platforms serviced the intake and discharge tunnels used to run sea water through the cooling system. The outflow pipe created an area of warm water that was popular with swimmers, who would gather under the nearer outflow platform at low tide.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

Fascinating - I hope the warm water didn't glow !

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

I wouldn't fancy swimming there.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

Minsmere is an outstanding reserve, i always try to visit on my trips to Norfolk, and end the day on Dulwich heath in the hope of a Dartford warbler.

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

Dunwich in Suffolk with the nice fish and chips or Dulwich in London?

Re: Sizewell, Leiston and Minsmere.

I really like the third shot, and well done on the Bittern, and the last one is very interesting, lots of texture and interest.
