Some of my first shots with my new camera <3

OK - so I had a mad moment, and bought a Nikon D700 the other day <3 second hand but in very good shape and not too bad on the actuations. Came with a few good accessories too (battery grip, EN-EL4 etc), and so far I'm in love! These are a few of the first shots I've taken with it, in a variety of different scenarios, lights, situations etc Deliberately, none are with flash, I wanted to use the high ISO capabilities, to see how they measure up - and I'm very very happy!

Some lovely shots Laura.

Not sure what the species is in shot 5, shaggy something or other LOL.

Very nice to see you back posting. I hope you continue to have pleasure with your new camera.

Z that would have and maybe my next camera but the price of the D800 is dropping fast so will wait a while. Ok I have got to say it, they are a nice set of pictures again, type of photos I like

Re: Some of my first shots with my new camera <3

Fantastic move Laura - cracking shots too.

I came so close to getting a 5D2 for landscapes a while back but the 7D was calling for the wildlife. Both dedicated to very different subjects. I bought neither.

Nikon took a different approach with the D700 and made a fantastic all rounder. I said at the time that had it been a Canon (because of my lenses) I'd have bought one.

Re: Some of my first shots with my new camera <3

Thanks all - well so far I'm very happy with it, and I couldn't fault the price (though the journey was a killer!) either - and although I may well be considering a D800 in the not tooooo distant (a year or two - depending on if there's anything better by then), I figured this is such an exceptional camera that it'll certainly do for the time being, and maybe even is better in some ways. I've spoken to a couple of portrait pro friends who have said that they reckon the D700 is better for portraits and low light than the D800 (though the D800 is almost certainly better for wildlife).

Anyway - for €1250 with battery grip and EN-EL4 you can't really go wrong I was very happy. Not sure what it is in sterling, but I know it's a bargain anyway
