Robin with worm

Very pleased with this I took it at 500mm hand held - it has been severely cropped and then enlarged but I think it is still of reasonable quality - feel free to disagree your comments are always welcome.

Re: Robin with worm

What a superb shot! You have managed to capture a beautiful image Snapper, one you should be delighted with. The DOF is spot on for me, the composition is good, using the rule of thirds very well, if I may say, probably one of your finest images. WELL DONE!!

For absolute perfection, perhaps a slightly tighter crop, but thats only my personal preference.

Agree with you Dawn, like this would have suited me best but this is a crop to about 10% and then an enlarge, did not think it would take it, what do you think, too much noise or not sharp enough?

Took this with my old ist DS body and it has only 6 megapixels so not a huge size to start with really, always the way if I have used the other body I would have had more lea way, never mind it is done now, and I am not displeased.

Re: Robin with worm

I think it's great.

The composition and crop work well and the depth of focus is good.

Handheld at 500mm - You've obviously a steadier hand than me.

Re: Robin with worm

I actually prefer the wider image - it gives the viewer an area for the robin to move into and gives an idea of the bird in its environment. I think the composition is lost within a tighter crop, but then you will never get universal agreement.

Re: Robin with worm

I prefer the original one now!! I think its much better, and youre right, the image loses its sharpness when cropped more.

Re: Robin with worm

Thank you everyone for your kind and helpful remarks.

Suzi you are right, I think one needs to concentrate on a single piece of equipment particularly if new and again if you change your style or type of photography. This is why having come to terms with the Bigma and birds I am now trying to get the hang of a wide angle lens and landscapes.

I am grateful to those who have helped me with the Bigma and the Macro both here and elsewhere. Now to tackle the wide one.
