My Vacation - Volume 2

My vacation begins. Temperatures were near 100F, 37C at times in early August and the lighting condition were poor in bright sunlight. I did my best to optimize the photos with a Circular Polarizing filter.

Monument Valley 1

Monument Valley 2 - "The Big Hand"

Monument Valley 3 - Famous location from John Wayne's "The Searchers"

Monument Valley 4 - A 98 year old Navajo Indian Woman lived in this "Hogan"

Monument Valley 5 - Distant giant buttes rising from a desert floor

Of the 5 parks I visited Monument Valley was by far the most impressive. It is the home to the Navajo Indian Nation. The only way to see it is on their tours with a Navajo driver. They know all the best spots to park and allow the tourists to photograph everything. I was so lucky to sit in the vehicle's cab with that driver. I'll always remember his conversation about his land and people.

Re: My Vacation - Volume 2

I love the States, been 3 times although the furthest over i have been is Cleveland, also stayed in Lakehurst NJ, of course a place put on the map because of the Hindenburg disaster, and Orlando for my Honeymoon. Would love to do SF and California some time, and yes Monument Valley and maybe Las Vegas.
Must of been great learning more about the Navajo indians Bob and just having a great time visiting these places

Re: My Vacation - Volume 2

Just looked at Volume 1 and came straight here. What a great adventure that must have been.

As you can see from the shots it was really bright & sunny so I had to bracket to get enough detail in the shadows. Too much contrast that day. Thanks for your comments.

Re: My Vacation - Volume 2

Great set,

I have nearly the same picture of your number three of my dad on a horse. My dad being a massive john wayne fan.
