I am going to try to think of what I can take photos of that interest me and then go and practice, hopefully mid-week, as these were basically taken for the sake of trying the camera out

Great stuff. Sparrow are a lovely bird and you've captured that well for someone that doesn't know their camera.
Click away at anything that grabs your eye, but most of all............. enjoy what you are doing.

Cool trees Natalie. Was that taken on the sepia setting?

thanks, all going well I am going to take photos of old buildings during the week and maybe a cemetery (doesn't look so fun written down but it will be) I might put more up then, so people can comment on composition, see where I can maybe improve a bit.

yes it was, I will probably be taking more tree photos next time out too, but different ones in a different location (I have half my route planned out lol), will see what they are like, might take them in colour next time, and change later, just depends...you'll probably see more of those ones too at some point

Re: Took my new camera out today.

Good. I love old buildings ( the more ramshackle the better) and have a soft spot for monos so I can't wait.

Re: Took my new camera out today.

Thanks Sharon, there are some ruins (really old ruins) that I will try to get photos of, just hope the weather is good! I have a feeling I need to buy a ticket or something, it looks to be gated off, so hope there aren't too many of those tourist signs on them. Will find out this week anyway. So hopefully I'll need the spare memory card I bought (hehe).

Re: Took my new camera out today.

I am still learning myself without a doubt. But one of my best investments was a book specific to my camera. Not the manual either. A photographer wrote a book on the camera that he used. So, you get all of the ins and the outs for your camera. You'll find a lot of books are written on cameras and have never used them other than put together a manual.

Re: Took my new camera out today.

I tried taking a photo of an old ruin, but the picture came out showing me holding the wireless remote control.
