ND Filters
Hubby and I are going out at the weekend waterfall hunting. I want to practice the tecnique where the waterfalls look smooth and silky.
I know i need a slow shutter speed for this and a ND filter (which i havnt got yet). Im looking at Hoya filters but they have different factors. Will i need a x2 x4 or a x8??
Help!!
also would it be worth buying a polarising filter aswell??

Polorising filters are always usefull, you get two types, linear and the other type (the name escapes me at the moment 
)

Neutral Density filters:
Reduce the amount of light entering the lens so wider apertures and slower shutter speeds can be selected, which is perfect for portraiture to reduce depth of field. Subject appears crisp and clear while the background becomes a soft blur. Also widely used for photographs of waterfalls and other nature scenes to emphasize movement.

Or you can do what I've done in the past - take the shot through polarizer sunglasses LOL

wish i could help you! iv got nd 8 and polariser but only tried it once and made a lot of mistake and not tried it on water ...yet
