Re: Found this old photograph

The book is 1967 so not that old. No idea about the photo though as the book contains 'old' photo's. The ruin is 1733 (same year as the keepers cottage we stayed in) but only one was maintained.

Looking at the 'old photo' and knowing the place - the large wooden shed has been built onto the rear of the ruin and most of the fence posts that lead into the loch have gone. The trees have grown a fair bit much overall it's much of a muchness but it does take a while for mountains, lochs and rocks to change.

One thing I do know that has been added is this. It is screwed onto the large rock (Breagh's grassy knoll) that you can see sticking out into the loch (centre frame in 1st pic) just to the left of the ruin. The subscription will make sense if i tell you they lived in the cottage for many years and it's attached at the tide line on the rock. Each day it is sumberged and then re-appears.

Re: Found this old photograph

Really nice images, I like the first one best. Do you have camera and lens details about the 3rd pic?. Comparing the 3 pics I'd guess the old one was taken with a telephoto lens.

Canon 400mm f5.6 L
Canon 70-200mm f4.0 L
Canon 17-40mm f4.0 L

No but your right. The hills at Strontian appear much closer in the old picture than in my two shots above.

It's not a particularly good picture but this was taken from right by the ruin (70mm) possibly with a similar focal length.
