Azz - don't lock it. There is absolutely no need - as you yourself said the majority of people have replied amicably so why should it need to be locked? All the existing members might have had their say however when YoP comes out of Beta, new members might want to contribute and I for one would be interested in reading their views on the subject.

Ok won't lock it

Maguish - our eyes/brains don't show it to us as blurred as in some of the photos we get, it's much more subtle.

Re: Taking, or making photographs?

I should think NOT to locking it We are all acting like adults and haven't resorted to name calling ...there is no reason to lock a healthy discussion IMHO

Editing pics VS Getting it right in camera

Re: Taking, or making photographs?

I am interested in peoples thoughts please

I am trying really hard to get the shot right in camera, sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail horribly

Now do you consider it cheating if you really edit a pic, to get the picture you originally wanted.

Obviously I would love to take the perfect picture everytime, and mostly I just resize and sharpen a bit, maybe pop a border on. But I also love fiddling and tweaking images.

I personally, think it is the final image that matters But, that is probably because, I am not so good at the moment, maybe in a couple of years I will change my mind

So what do you think??

Re: Taking, or making photographs?

well i think... if it's true photography, getting it right in the camera is the way to go... however, there is nothing wrong with tweaking - that in itself is an art form. I would be loathe to call anything I had extensively tweaked a good photograph (in the true sense of the word) however, I think this purely depends on personal opinion. Highly edited stuff is art too!

also - there is a difference between a 'good photograph' and being a 'good photographer'. I guess it depends on what you want from the hobby, whether you just want a good end result, or whether you actually want to be a good photographer? hope i makes sense?!

xx

(ETA sorry for double posting It's force of habit, there's some forums I'm on that you aren't allowed to edit posts at all - my bad!
