Re: Remotes - anyone use them?

I have one for the Canon and wouldn't be without it, especially on long exposure shots where any movement in the camera can be noticed so i use a remote to reduce camera shake.

Also makes self portraits easier and also setting up too, as i sometimes do a couple of self portrait stuff when i am setting up my lights for a shoot

Not sure about what setting you will need it on as its just a case of pushing a button on the canon.

I have one too, you just push a button on mine, and then a menu pops up and for you to decide what delay you want etc.

Re: Remotes - anyone use them?

Jols

I have done some research on your behalf and it doesn't appear that your Nikon D40x has any availibilty (socket) to accept a remote shutter release. I have searched the Nikon site and nothing is listed nor is there anything on ebay any good.

There are a couple of wireless remotes offered but they just arn't worth buying because they only work at around 3 mtrs away, what they DON'T tell you is they only work when your standing infront of the camera ,and thats directly infront.

Sorry to bring bad news, but it looks as if your camera isn't built for remote control, wired or wireless.

For you the answer is totally different , there is a suberb wireless remote on ebay, several companies sell them like or similar to this link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wireless-Shutt...QQcmdZViewItem

I have one myself and its brilliant, receiver plugs into remote shutter release socket and works at least 30 ft away from behind/front of the camera, well worth looking at. that link is only for the type to go for , other companies may sell the same cheaper and if you search, spare batteries are available but you do have to do a google search.

Same I am afraid as it is for Jols the Nikon D40 is the same as the D40x, and the Canon Powershot A630 has been discontinued and no remote shutter release is available for that camera either.

MS

There is a wired remote shutter release for your Olympus E-410 but no wireless version. Have a look on ebay.
