A few of my latest shots

My first shot in RAW and processed at the basic level in Photoshop Elements 12. Decided after 13 months I needed to move away from JPEG, so downloaded 30 day free trial. Taken quickly as it was spitting with rain, hence the light wasn't very good.

1)

2nd shot taken in RAW and processed in PE 12.
2)

Rest are JPEG.

3)
Tree Creeper, really low light and high ISO, shutter speed really too slow.

4)
Greater Spotted Woodpecker, again a low light shot

Brandon Country Park

5)

6) F15 Eagle

7)

8)

9)

10)

11)

This an another effort to get things moving again. Thanks for looking and please feel free to comment, criticism or praise equally accepted.

Re: A few of my latest shots

Hi Steve, Brandon Country Park all part of the larger Thetford Forest.

Phil, see loads of Tree Creepers but absolute sods to capture. Very early days with RAW and still very early days with Photo Elements 12. I downloaded the free 30 day trial but picked up Elements 12 and Premiere 12 discs for £35 on Amazon Black Friday, only it was Tues or Wed and have already received them.

Guys thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

Re: A few of my latest shots

I do like the flint built churches from around your area should have taken time to do more landscapes on my last visit in 2008.

Thetford forest is a great area, spent far too much time looking for Golden pheasants at picnic sites around there.

I found Raw handy as as i gained a bit of knowledge over the years it allowed me to rescue a few shots, into something usable.

Re: A few of my latest shots

Love the tree creeper shot, we have them here but almost impossible to get a picture of.
I have the same dilemma, to shoot in RAW or Jpeg fine. Not having Lightroom program batch editing is out of the question.

Re: A few of my latest shots

Cheers Brian and Bazza. I like shooting in RAW. As it takes longer to process I am trying to be more discerning. I download into Windows and I get a JPEG image of the shot and decide from there what to bin and what to process.

Norfolk does indeed have some lovely flint churches, some of which are very old and the round towers on many are different.

The Golden Pheasants are now a lot fewer than they were. The Wolferton Triangle is probably the best chance now.

Birding Site: Wolferton Triangle

Summary

AKA Golden Pheasant triangle
Location

OS Gridreference:TF671279
GPS (lat/long):52.822729, 0.478476

The best site in the county to see the increasingly rare Golden Pheasant. Best looked for at dawn and dusk at anytime of the year, they are most active in May but most people look for them in the winter months. Best strategy, park on the south or north side of the triangle with a clear view of the road in front and behind. Switch off your engine and wait. They often feed on the verges.

Re: A few of my latest shots

Thats exactly where i did see them Richard, must be odd for the nearby Sandringham security to have us birders spending time sat on the roads staring into the woodland in the hope of seeing one of those stunning birds.

Re: A few of my latest shots

I don't think the security worry too much as it is NFN (Normal for Norfolk).
